Lazy Cow Out-and-Back

This hike follows the winding, but relatively flat Lazy Cow Trail in Northeast El Paso from the trailhead at Chuck Heinrich Park to the roundhouse at Bowen Ranch and then returns along the same route. There are great views of the Franklin Mountains to your west and the Organ Mountains to the north. This is a great beginner trip, but if it's too much for you, you can always turn around early to shorten the distance.

How to get there:

The hike starts and ends at the Chuck Heinrich Park trailhead. Park in the parking lot and follow the trail toward the earthen dam. Climb toward the left and travel thru the gates. Go right after passing thru the gate, follow Tin Mine Road and then go right on Lazy Cow and follow the Lazy Cow signs. At the Bowen Ranch roundhouse turn around and retrace your route.
