South Franklin Peak
This strenuous hike up from Transmountain Road offers great views of both the east and west sides of El Paso - often at the same time. You may lose sight of the trail from time to time, but if you look around and keep going up you'll find your way. It tops out at the FAA towers at South Franklin Peak. This is actually part of the Ron Coleman Trail that goes all the way from Transmountain to McKelligon Canyon.
- 3.60 miles of Singletrack
- 1600 feet
How to get there:
The trailhead is in a gravel parking lot along the south side of Transmountain Road about 1/2 mile east of the summit (midway between I-10 and US-54). You must pay the park fee at the unattended station in the parking area.
